MKIV Supra Differential Variations: 220mm vs. 200mm

The Toyota MKIV Supra was equipped with two different rear differential sizes: a larger 220mm differential and a smaller 200mm differential.

Comparison of MKIV Supra 220mm and 200mm rear differentials

220mm Differential

The 220mm differential features a larger housing and ring gear assembly. The larger case is visually wider and has a noticeably different housing shape compared to the 200mm differential.

200mm Differential

The 200mm differential uses a smaller and lighter housing. While it mounts in a similar location, the housing dimensions and many related components differ from the 220mm version. Differential covers, braces, bushings, and internal components are not always interchangeable between the two sizes.

Important: Always verify which differential is installed on your vehicle before ordering differential bushings, mounts, covers, braces, or internal components. Parts designed for the 200mm differential may not fit the 220mm differential, and vice versa.

The most reliable way to identify your differential is by comparing the housing shape with the reference image above. Because many MKIV Supras have been modified over the years, differential size should not be determined solely by model year, transmission, or trim level.
