MAKING GS400 REAR END SWAPS EASIER


When we were asked by one of our customers to develop a mount swap kit for the GS400 rear diff, we started from a fresh slate.  We looked at the process, the challenges, and ultimately how we would want to install a kit.  The result is this relay bracket that is self-locating so you know where to modify the subframe and is stout and straightforward when it comes to actually mounting the new diff, thanks to ample landing pads for the pinion and pre-threaded holes.

GS400 Rear End Benefits:

-GS400 rear ends are readily available and bulletproof providing a great upgrade for cars adding big power.  Both the 1KS IS we are rebuilding and the Zen Motors GTA time attack car uses this rear end.

-Better ratio for 6-spds.  The tall ratio of a factory IS auto or manual does not allow for full advantage from the 6spd gearbox. When swapping a V160.161 or a CD009, the GS400 rear diff makes for a better final drive.

The downsides:

-You will likely want to upgrade to an LSD, the OSGIKEN LSD is what we suggest. 

-Utilizing this bracket, the pinion does sit offset and there are tight clearances.  More work will be required than just this bracket.


Features:

-1/4" thick steel plate, designed, bent, and fabricated in the USA.

-Pre-threaded pinion plate mounts that utilize the same bushings as stock minus the top cushions between the diff and subframe.

-Also includes our weld-in adapter plates to use the GS rear cover. We have biased the plate as 

-Subframe modification is required, but if the plate fits flush, you are good to go.  Final weldment required for proper support.

-Designed for 98-2000 GS400 rear diffs, to complete your swap add our guibo adapter, pinion mount bushings, and Supra TT axles.

DO NOT USE ANY AFTERMARKET BUSHINGS THAT CLAIM TO BE LOWER THAN STOCK. THIS WILL CAUSE INTERFERENCE. 

After the swap, you will likely need to trim the heatshield for the gas tank to clear a guibo delete adapter.  A CV driveshaft is suggested to reduce vibration and allow the offset angle placement of the diff.

While we do everything we can to make things easy, this is a custom swap that will require care and skills to overcome tight clearances. We are here to help out, but we cannot overcome certain challenges that will be based on the cricumstances.  Do not undertake unless you feel confident in solving these challenges.
