We have been in development with these shocks for nearly 4 years.  The first 3 were focused on just getting them built, the last year in testing. See our Blog about the back story and first impressions. 

Description:

Penske is a name you have most certainly heard before if you are a fan of motorsports.  Their rich heritage of performance spans nearly every major competing body from Formula 1 to NASCAR and everything in between.  These shocks represent a very rare application of world-class damping into a street-class vehicle, the IS-F.  We are very honored to have the very first set in the world for this application and hope that you can appreciate just what a remarkable opportunity this is for your vehicle. We assemble each set to specification and can offer a base valve set or some very exotic damping.  These shocks tame the heavy weight of the F like nothing else

Specs:

-FIGS Spec 7500 Series inline-remote reservoir Penske Shocks

-Oversized lower body caps to allow a true M14 mount.  Our competition uses the standard lower cap mount with a 1/2" bolt.

-Custom FIGS Spec Swift Springs with optional helper or assist springs.

-Aluminum Hard Anodized bodies featuring Penske anodized collars.  You get what you pay for and the lower spring perches and upper caps are Penske devloped to hold the spring in position better and hold adjustment.

-FIGS Provided Complete Upper Hats front and rear.  Pillowball mounts for fast response and free misalignment of shocks during travel. These are 100% machined and lower profile with press-fit studs.  This means favorable weight reduction over the bulky units our competition sells.

-Divorced Compression and Rebound adjustments for full adjustability.

-Spherical Bearing lower mounts using Aurora Bearing components.

-Dual-flow valving for performance and comfort. Penske's proprietary valve placement on the piston means a major response.

-40-way low-speed damping adjustable with major steps in each adjustment.  That means more usable settings vs. standard coilovers that take 5 clicks to see a difference.

-Pin-spanner wrenches and hardware included.

-Saves about 60lbs over stock components.

-Ride Height adjustment range depends on spring and assit configuration. Custom rates and valving available for competition use.

- ABS wire padded retention clamps to keep then secure to the shock body.

NEW: We offer a 2-year warranty on components and 1 complimentary rebuild inspection* within the 2-year period.

 

NOTE: due to the spherical bearing mounts some noise may develop in certain environments.  Dry- PTFE lube will remedy any noise if applied into the lower bearing joint properly. * The rebuild inspection covers a basic oil change.  Additional components and labor may be required that are not covered under warranty. Warranty is limted to non wear items and subject to limitations based on use.


FAQ:

-What can I expect from the Penske shocks vs say and BC racing ER series setup?

The PENSKE DA7500 coilovers we offer were the first to market and a result of a 3yr development program. They offer an extremely wide range of force for low-speed damping adjustment, but perhaps the biggest difference between the Penske and the BC ER, is the high-speed damping capabilities. The bleed piston and shim stack on the Penske is a far more diverse and sophisticated design, which will allow for better behavior when into the compression stroke (think hard banking in the corner and then encountering additional small bumps or a large curb.)  The Penske will handle those large compression events with more poise as the blow-off characteristics will release the excess pressure. The BC damping range adjustment is much narrower, meaning we take greater care to spec initial spring rates.  There is also a large difference in the internal gas pressure of the 2 shocks. BC shocks will have a range around 115-130psi, whereas the Penske are in the 250PSI range. This means more force is placed on stabilizing the fluid to reduce longer-duty cycle performance and demands under endurance racing.

-Your competitor also sells a Penske setup, do you price match?

The short answer is that, while the products both fit into a similar shock body, they are far from being the same.  We focus on the total package, by using Penske oversized body caps, retaining a larger lower bearing mount, Penske genuine machined shock spring perches, and retainers. These all add cost, but they are part of the exceptional quality that makes them worthy of long-term investment.  We also went to the extent of providing an efficient machined upper hat with our bullet stud, stainless steel mounting studs, and precision FK bearings made in the USA.  To compare these to what is available at a lower price, in itself, is not an even comparison.   To add to that, the functional behavior of our shocks are completely different because we own the intellectual property on the shock valve stack and build spec. We take pride in developing our products and applying our vast knowledge of motorsports engineering, used in real race cars, to deliver an exceptional product for this platform.  Anything else is just a compromise.

-I see you have spec'ed spring rates, can I get custom spring rates and a custom build shock?

Yes, one of the largest values we can provide is guidance on spring rates and valving based on your vehicle's setups. Tires, brakes, aero, and chassis modifications will all change the amount of energy you can transfer in to the suspension. Were are here to expertly guide you along in your racecar setup.
